“I want to be an inspiration to others, because so
many people have been such an inspiration to me!”
Spring Bellows, Art Student, Sycamore Art Attack

Dear Community Friends,

Look at what your past support has helped to do. Spring, an inspiration to many, is a 33 year old Art Attack students who has a Heart for Art!” Diagnosed with spinal bifida (a birth defect in which the backbone and spinal canal do not close before birth), Spring was not expected to walk, talk, or go to school. However, through persistence and support, Spring has done all these things, plus more, including taking classes!

Because of the Art Attack, Spring owes much of her happiness to the classes offered at the Opportunity House in Sycamore. Spring says that art is a creative therapeutic outlet which allows her to express her feelings. For that, she is very grateful, especially to Susan Edwards, who teaches the classes:

“Ms. Susan is one of a kind. She has a big heart. I can tell by her passion to work
with us how much she wants to make a difference,” Spring said. “There aren't enough people out there like that. I love anybody and everybody who wants to make a difference.”

We thank you so much for your past support and invite you during our 2011 Annual Heart for Art! Campaign, to continue to be an inspiration for art students by sponsoring one or more of the following classes offered through the Art Attack:

  • Sponsor one child for any class, $50
  • Sponsor a whole class for a month, $100*
  • Sponsor half a class at Opportunity House, $250*
  • Sponsor a whole class at Opportunity House (10 students), $500

*As a class sponsor, your name will be posted on our website, listed at the class for participants and parents to see, acknowledgement in newspaper articles and on class flyers sent to schools.

We appreciate your continued support; please join us as we continue to inspire art students with Hearts for Art!”

What is Heart For Art? The Art Attack – School of Art’s annual fund drive campaign to support the arts programming we provide for our community.

What is the Art Attack?  The Art Attack is a community art school in downtown Sycamore.  We offer art classes at our Arts Center, at Opportunity House, and at various other community organizations and events. The Art Attack is not supported by any public funds.  Tuition, local grants, and YOU support our programming.

How can I help? The best way to help is signing up for classes.  You can also donate on our web site at www.sycamoreartattack.org.  Local grants have been drastically cut in recent years and we greatly appreciate your support!
